That December Wedding

Spray-painting pots into gold, making little penguins from poly clay, cutting out invites were among the things I helped out with Leia’s wedding last December. But I’m not going to talk about that, I’m here to talk about this project which I will be posting. Here’s the bride’s shoes and their wine box which I customized to their request.

A December Wedding

Attending a December wedding is one of the best times to end your year. Did I also tell you that the bride and groom kept it all at a hush and nobody even posted a peep about it in social media. Everyone only knew about it a month later.

The Shoes

You’d never think that these dainty pair would be painted on eh? But they are! The placement of the design was specifically requested by the client which was inspired from a previous pair she found on Pinterest.

She especially requested a floral design with all the freedom I could do. Now first of all, it worried me that the art might fade away in due time after several uses. She assured me though that she won’t be using it but instead would keep it as one of her keepsakes.

Here’s how I did it. I sketched on to the soles with a ball point pen which I then filled in with white acrylic. Colored acrylic paint was then added with about 2-3 layers of paint. I then used a special marker to line it. As for the other side, trying to even it out was a struggle but I did manage to copy it thanks to a thin layer of paper wherein the marker ink sunk to the other side directly to the other shoe. I then did the same process with the other shoe. Scroll down for more photos!

The Wine Box

I used several layers of white acrylic paint when it came to embossing their initials on this wine box. As for the greenery surrounding it, this was directly painted without any sketching. The box itself was made by a local wood crafting shop called Memory Keepers. This took me a while to finalize since my original plan was to simply spraypaint a white matte layer for the initials but it didn’t go well as planned. I hac to redo it with brush and paint and by hand.

Bukidnon: A Weekend at Dahilayan

Went away for the weekend to Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon! Yay! You could say this was a Dahilayan Weekend. It was lovely and windy way to de-stress from the everyday work routine by being disconnected for a while and just simply taking in a breath of cold fresh air in the mountains. I simply cannot stop pointing out that the weather was exaggeratedly windy and cold day and night! Wish I packed more jackets but this girl has to pack light. There were several things that happened along the way like missing the bus and being ushered to a detour because our mode of transportation wasn’t registered. You can check out what happened by clicking on the photos!

A Dahilayan Weekend

First things first though, there are two resorts that are adjacent to each other which are Dahilayan Forest Park and Dahilayan Adventure Park. The two have their own varied attractions therefore if you go to one, I recommend you go to the other.

Did I also tell you that there may be some rides you cannot take part in if you lean more on the heavy side. You can read more about it by clicking the photo below.

The all around cool breeze blanketed in clouds and mountain ranges. Towering pine trees and lush meadows as far as the eye can see.  This is what it means to be in Dahilayan, Bukidnon. A scene you’d never expect to see here in Mindanao and yet here I am off to spend a weekend here enjoying all it had to offer with the touch of a button thanks to an app with the best deals! I’ll tell you more about this particular app and how you can try it yourself by clicking the photo below!

Here I go eating my way around the area. Their hot coco is exquisite (you can see I’m halfway through already) that I had to go for seconds. I guess this has become my sorta food guide with what’s available in the area. P.S. Always go for pizza.

Zenith Smart Scale Review

Looking for an affordable smart scale? Get the Zenith 4-in-1 Wireless Smart Weighing Scale! Read on if you want to learn more about the pros and cons of this Zenith Smart Scale Review. It’s equipped with 4 features such as recording your instant health progress every time you connect it to your phone while you stand on the 4 metal sensors. It shows your body weight, body fat, water fluid, muscle mass, your Body Mass Index, BMR, bone mass and visceral fat. I bought this as a new year present to myself seeing as the holidays may clearly have made an impact on my health *cough* figure. Check out my unboxing below!

I purchased mine online via Kimstore and got it a week later. It was safely packed with bubble wrap prior to opening the box itself. It weighed at about 5kgs. What made me purchase one aside from the price was the features!

Inside the box was the scale which was fitted neatly with styrofoam and wrapped in plastic. I was honestly excited and clearly nervous to try this one out. The look and surface kinda reminds me of those old Ipods which makes it look sleek!

IMG_8696Here’s the manual which was written in several languages. You can make out the features here and further information about the product. The scale utilizes Bioeletrical Impedance Analysis technology, which takes advantage of the conductive composition found in the body’s muscle and water content, thereby making measurements more accurate.

The batteries were already provided and you just had to remove the plastic contact for it to start working. As you can see it has a bluetooth feature which connects to your phone! Be it iOS or Android.

All you simply have to do is download a third party app over at the App Store or Google Play. It’s called iWellness by Yu Hua min. Open the app and fill in your own profile and there you go! You can save up to 10 profiles in the app. To start, just step on the scale or specifically on the 4 metal sensors and viola! Your info has been recorded. Another thing I liked about it is that it shows a graph of every input that’s been recorded so you can see what day you lost and gained weight.

  • 1 unit of Zenith 4-in-1 Wireless Smart Health Scale
  • 1 Manual and User Guide
  • 4 AAA batteries

  • IOS Devices running on iOS 8 or higher
  • Smartphones or tablets running on Android 4.3 or higher
  • Must have a Bluetooth function
  • Device memory must at least be 1GB

Alphabear: Bears That Spell

alphabear1I’m a sucker for cute mobile games and Alphabear is one of them. So what kind of game is it? It’s a pretty simple word puzzle game by Spry Fox and designed by Meowza. Just click the tiles with letters to spell words and collect cute bears whose powers boost your score! There’s nothing quite like killing time by clicking random letters to form a word while waiting. Watch the trailer below!

These bears accumulate and get bigger for each word you form from the board. The characters themselves are so adorably restless that I just couldn’t take my eyes off this said game with names like Fore Bear, Kissy Bear, De Bear and more! For a word game enthusiast such as myself, I love it. The game is made up of several chapters which is then separated into different boards: a big board, a timed board, a treasure board and a boss board. Check out several screenshots I made in-game below.

The first one would be the chapter page. You get to collect several bears for each chapter. The screenshot in the middle is the actual gameplay. The red blocks mean that they’ll be turning to stone soon which block the bears growth and is equivalent to only one point. You can see my bears growing to random proportions for each block cleared. These are equivalent to points at the end of the game.alphabear-screenshot1

alphabear1When you finish a board, a bear “takes a selfie” while saying random sentences using the words you made. You also get a new bear for every target you may have reached or your current bear gets powered up. But just because it’s cute doesn’t mean it’s easypeasy. The boards get harder and the quota score gets higher for every chapter. Hint: Don’t aim for long-ass words at the beginning chapters or it’s going to ask for more on the later chapters.

You can download Alphabear on Google Play (Android) and the iTunes Appstore (iOS).

What I didn’t like about it:

  • The game requires an internet connection for your progress to be saved.
  • The timed board makes your brain go on a haywire random word clicking spree.
  • Bears sleep too long. (;⌣̀_⌣́)

She Gets Inked

Nope, that my friend ain’t me. That’s Jilly and she just had her first ever tattoo done by Junepher of F.O.D. Hardcore Tattoo Shop. She had been planning this for years and I guess this was the day to get it. I was commissioned do the design. She asked for a dragonfly to be done because she had this affinity to dragonflies. Color was very much welcomed with her request and the splatters was her suggestion.

Inked Sketch

I teased her if it hurt and all she did was smile about it while continuing on with reading a book she brought with her. The session took about an hour and fifteen minutes.

Inked with Junepher doing his thing

Here it is without the colors yet. Nicely done eh? It didn’t bleed much but then again it could be because of the location or Jilly was pretty calm about it. I even asked Junepher at some point if I could be his apprentice and he agreed if I had my own machine. Let’s see where this goes… 🙂
Inked all it needs is color

inkeddragonfly1Here’s the final output. As you can see this is the part where there was some blood letting. I’m pretty sure this was the part that stung.Another thing about this tattoo is that she has not even told her parents about it to this day considering that they’re living under the same roof. I wonder what they’re reaction will be when they find out. Now that we’re at the end of my story, I will leave you with tips I learned when you decide to get a tattoo of your own.

Tips I learned on getting your first tattoo

  • Do not get your tattoo on a whim.
  • Choose your artist wisely.
  • Custom art is what it’s all about
  • Don’t haggle with the rate.
  • It’s going to hurt but you can handle it.
  • Aftercare is extremely important.
  • The tattoo is going to itch like b**** while its healing.
  • If the tattoo has any meaning to you and you’ve been thinking about it for a while, then you’re probably not going to regret anything.

Here are some resources I’ve found along the way:

Procrastinating With Images

Quick scribbles of me done by my sister at an interval of every three minutes. I swear I did not make her do this, she took photos of me in secret and drew them on some random notebook. It feels nice when they surprise you with drawings because I’m usually the one doing the other way around.  I’m pretty sure this was the time when I was waiting for a reply from the SO….or I could be just watching videos of fluffy kitties. Does that count as procrastinating?

ali-draws5ali-draws4The drawings just reminded me of how unproductive I have been that day. But hey, it’s healthy to do nothing once in a while. I know i’m procrastinating but I can’t help it. The pillows (I was in bed that time) have accepted me as one of their own. Don’t worry though, I know i’ll be moving my butt after this. Just give me some time even if its just a couple of hours and I will get my shit done after this.

It’s one of those days where you don’t feel like doing anything at all. I’ve been pretty busy lately with work and several part-time jobs that I do not have time to simply do nothing and its these days that make me feel recharged for tomorrow’s activities.

I don’t want to go back to my old ways of falling pretty hard over hurdles. Hardships are temporary and this is the time for growth, that’s what I tell myself. This is growing and I am training my mind to see the positive in every situation. Today will just plainly be my rest day.

I decided to turn my phone off and spend time with my siblings who I don’t see very much. And hey, dear reader, I’m also here to remind you that it’s okay to be down in the dumps on some days. Just don’t stay there for too long. People that matter in your life will surely miss you, plus there are so many possibilities you can do in this world, follow your passion. Enjoy life without spending a single dime and go be creative in your way.

I’m having trouble sleeping too, but that’s another story. Ta-ta and thanks for reading!

We Push Paraded!

First things first, what is this Go Skateboarding Day they speak of?

Go Skateboarding Day (GSD) is an official annual holiday conceived by the International Association of Skateboard Companies (IASC) to promote skateboarding. It is usually marked on June 21. It has been on Father’s Day. – Wikipedia

This event is mostly organized by your respective local skateboarders and it’s a nice opportunity to meet new faces and take part in the Push Parade! It’s a parade of skateboarders and longboarders around the city. Since the weather wasn’t too friendly, the 7:30 AM parade was postponed to 9AM. I brought along Leia so she could experience this gathering as well even if she was what you may call a newbie. 🙂

As you can see we became the passenger driver combo (2 girls 1 longboard haha). I pushed while she led on with the directions. It was a struggle at first but we eventually got the hang of it and as you can see we bailed several times but it was alright. Neither of us were seriously injured. I found it amusing how Leia kept freaking out most of the time.

Me coaxing Leia to use the cruiser while I hold on to the video. This was during the beginning and we were the last of the group but that was alright. It’s good that I got to meet new and old faces during the parade.

Pink faced and drenched in sweat. I was pushing for two! What an exercise it was. We went around the city! Did you know some of the skaters there came from distant provinces.

Warming up before their competition.

Good food. Rice toppings at 35php only! I was too hungry that I only remembered to take a photo when I was almost done. Lol. Hello there hun!

Unfortunately, the rain put the competition at a pause halfway by 4PM and most of the winner weren’t finalized yet. The continuation was done a couple of days later.

Iligan City seriously needs a skate park considering that there are so many skaters here. Different courts are abundant but skaters want a public skate park.  If you don’t want them in the streets, then give them a safe environment where they can skate. Most skateboarding injuries happen in the streets. The most common injuries are falls due to surface irregularities and collisions with motor vehicles or pedestrians. Skateboarding is going to happen whether skateparks exist or not. Better make a place for it.

Camper Planner Unboxing

This would probably one of the most random things i’d ever buy midyear considering most people would get these by the end or at the start of a new year. What made me want to get one was for the need to organize my schedules the old fashioned way, jotting them down. I got this one from FILED. The dimensions for this one is at 6×6. Easy to fit in any bag.

What I liked about their planner was that they offered to customize my name on the cover with whit ink! Cute ain’t it? Mind you their maximum characters are four letters only. The cover is in navy blue which was different from their store, it kinda had a purple tone to it but nonetheless it was pretty with its silver stamped cover.

My item arrived 2 weeks after purchase. I knew of this already since they notified me that it takes them within 7-15 business days to ship  your item. Their courier was via 2GO. I was worried during the first week because there wasn’t any notification whatsoever that they sent the item but I waited patiently and viola it arrived unexpectedly! It was wrapped in a plastic film then packed nicely too in a white box.

It contained two freebies which was a printed watercolored postcard that served as a quaint keepsake and a green Faber-Castell CX Colour Ballpoint Pen. The pen I found unexpected because it was posted on their site that it was a Faber Castell Pitt Artist Pen. 🙁

Here are the contents! The thickness of each page was at 80 GSM, ideal for scribbling. There is no date so you can fill it in by yourself. Good thing too so I can use it till the next year/s.

Each month was divided by a monthly travel photo which was taken by local explorers. There was also an expense tracker to which you can write down what you’ve spent and the like.

It had a go list page where you can write down the possible places you want to travel. Their additional travel tips are most welcomed!

DSC_0030 DSC_0034DSC_0055

I’ll be filling this up with good things and photos. 🙂

Sadly, the back cover had irreparable scratches as you can see here but nonetheless i’m pretty sure this planner will serve its purpose and that is to organize my schedule and make me less forgetful. I love it and thank you FILED!

Overall, my transaction with them was smooth as it can be. I do hope they make their customer service better by notifying their customers of their tracking numbers once they send the item.

You can get this planner here!

Cliff Swinging at MSU Marawi

So I went to Ayin’s graduation at MSU Marawi on a early and fine day. We took the jeep which was probably the safest and commonly used mode of transportation these days at only 50php! The duration of the trip is at about an hour but may take 2 hours when theres heavy traffic. I would also like to note that the jeepney may not be that comfortable most of the time because the drivers insist on only leaving when everybody has been sardined inside his hunk of jeep. You get to meet a lot of characters there too ranging from the old, young and any sort you can mention. The air in Marawi was very cool that most people wear winter clothing during early mornings and late at night which I have yet to experience.

Ayin has a tendency to go all artsy fartsy as well considering that her specialty is creating murals. This is was one of her projects.

This is their pater. I found it a bit dry but fulfilling all the same. Too bad there was no palapa that time.

We went to the linely dairy farm I found the area very calm and there was not much people that time.

It was Ate She who suggested we go here and we did! This was a section of their dairy farm Too bad they didn’t have any milk available that time I was excitedly waiting to get my hands on them in a literally very fresh sense.

Ayin then brought us to a secret spot (this was where she learned her longboard sliding skills) which was a thirty minute walk uphill and beyond the cornfields was a most spectacular view.

I told you it was spectacular.

I’m gonna miss you a bunchies and I can’t wait to hear more stories of your future adventures!

They had a makeshift swing made out of a tiny sack and some rope by the cliff and it was awesome! I look forward to going back there just to simply go on a gastronomic trip on a non-Ramadan month. Most of the food stalls were closed during this time.
